Laura K. Sindberg

Laura K. Sindberg (born December 19, 1958 ) is an American music teacher.

Sinberg studied at the University of Wisconsin-Milwaukee with degrees as Bachelor and Master of Fine Arts. She led the bands at Roosevelt Middle School of the Arts and later Central Middle School in Waukesha and is Professor of Music at the University of Minnesota . Since 1990 she has been involved in the Comprehensive Musicianship through Performance program, which aims to train young musicians through practical music practice, and wrote the book Just Good Teaching: Comprehensive Musicianship through Performance in Theory and Practice . In 1994 she founded the Central Bands Commissioning Project , which aims to get music students to perform new works and thereby give them insight into the composition process. As composers, a. a. Pierre LaPlante , Rick Kirby , Hugo Hartig , Jack Stamp and Timothy Broege on the project. Sindberg was PR director for the Wisconsin Music Educators Association Council and is a member of the Music Educators National Conference , the Wisconsin Music Educators Association , the American School Band Directors Association, and the Waukesha Area Symphonic Band .
