Lava-Ströme is a waltz by Johann Strauss Sohn (op.74). The work was premiered on January 29, 1850 in the Sofien-Saal in Vienna as part of the carnival event Ball on Vesuvius .

Remarks

The waltz was named after volcanic activity on Vesuvius . The composer also included onomatopoeic passages in the work such as B. the imitation of volcanic eruptions. The waltz musically describes a volcanic eruption. It was created for the carnival season in 1850, which is also underpinned by the date of the premiere given above.

The playing time is about 8 minutes plus minus a few minutes, depending on the musical conception of the respective conductor.
