Lawrence Bush

Lawrence Bush (* 1951 ) is an American writer, essayist and editor.

Bush worked a. a. as a music teacher and puppeteer and has been the editor of Jewish Currents magazine, founded in 1946, for more than thirty years . He was also the founder of the magazine of the Jewish reconstructionism movement Reconstructionism Today , which he directed for thirteen years, and speechwriter for the representative of American Reform Judaism Rabbi Alexander M. Schindler .

In addition to two books for young people ( Rooftop Secrets and Emma Ansky-Levine and Her Mitzvah Machine ), Bush et al. a. the historical novel Bessie: A Novel of Love and Revolution (1983) and the books American Torah Toons: 54 Illustrated Commentaries, Jews, Money and Social Responsibility (with Jeffrey Dekro ) and Waiting for God: The Spiritual Explorations of a Reluctant Atheist . On Leo Rosten's 100th birthday, he published a new edition of his The Joys of Yiddish , commented on by him .
