August Ahrens (born August 10, 1896 in Pries , † after 1957) was a German businessman and politician .

Life

Ahrens trained in banking from 1911 to 1914 and took part in the First World War from 1915 to 1919. From 1919 to 1928 he worked as an employee, from 1928 he was managing director of the North German Games Association in the Workers' Gymnastics and Sports Association . In 1933 he was released. In the following years until 1947 he worked as an accountant. From 1947 he was treasurer of the Hamburg Football Association and later a member of the board of directors of the Totogesellschaft . In 1947 he became managing director of a housing association until 1954 when he became chief district manager of the society for football betting.

Ahrens was a member of the SPD from 1914 to 1933 and from 1945 . From January 17, 1951, when he stood for Gertrud Lockmann , who had moved up to the Bundestag , he belonged to the 2nd and 3rd Hamburg citizenship until 1957 .
