Le Mamea Ropati

Le Mamea Ropati (* 1945) is a Samoan politician. He is a member of the cabinet and was a former leader of the opposition. He ran for the Territorial Constituency Lefaga and Falese'ela ( Aʻana ) between 1979 and 1987 and again since 1991.

Life

In 1982 he was Minister of Lands Survey, Post Office and Broadcasting . He was then Minister of Education, Youth, Sports & Cultural Affairs and Labor in the government of Tofilau Eti Alesana . Between 2001 and 2006 he was the leader of the opposition Samoa Democratic United Party .

On August 31, 2006, Ropati was deposed as the leader of the SDUP. Asiata Saleʻimoa Vaʻai became the new party leader . As a result, he left the party that broke up.

In February 2010, Ropati published that he had been asked by his constituency to run as a candidate for the Human Rights Protection Party . He had also been contacted by the Tautua Samoa Party . He received the post of Minister of Agriculture, Fisheries and Agriculture Store .

In 2017 he was also offered the title of chief Tapusatele .
