Le Petit Paradis ( German  "the little paradise" ) is a band ceramic find place near Harduémont ( Verlaine ) in Haspengau ( province of Liège ) in Belgium . It lies on the slope of a small limestone plateau, 300 m from the Yerne , a tributary of the Geer .

The site was found in 1996 by É. Vanderhoeft discovered. Excavations in Verlaine were carried out between 1997 and 2002 by Laurence Burnez-Lanotte as part of a research project on the Early Neolithic Belgium (UMR 7041, CNRS ). 7500 m² were excavated, but the settlement extended over at least 3 hectares. 140 findings were unearthed, including six safe and eight possible house floor plans.

According to the ceramics, the place of discovery belongs to the end phase of linear ceramic tape (IIc / IId according to Modderman ). According to Louise Gomart's research into manufacturing technology, all potters belonged to the same group.

Le Petit Paradis is particularly interesting because of the unusually high concentration of Silex debits. Local chalk flint was used ( silex à grain fin d'Hesbaye or light gray Belgian flint). 22 concentrations of debit days were uncovered. One pit contained 24,800 flint artifacts , including 750 blade cores. The analysis of 48,370 artifacts and the assembly of 84 core stones (a refitting rate of 29.1%) allowed a detailed investigation of the mining technique. A standardized technique of core extraction was used. The place is interpreted as a settlement that was specialized in the production of flint devices.

18 further LBK settlements were found within a radius of 10 km. Most of them are located at the confluence of the Yerne with the Fontaine-du-Lavu and Seraing-le-Château .
