Fronting

Fronting describes the asymmetry of a peak in chromatography in which the rear part is steeper than the front part relative to the baseline . In paper chromatography and thin-layer chromatography , it can be recognized by the widening of the spots in the running direction of the solvent front.

Leading is a synonym . The reverse is known as tailing .
