Tailing (chromatography)

from Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia

Tailing describes the asymmetry of a peak in chromatography in which the front part is steeper than the rear part relative to the baseline . In paper chromatography and thin layer chromatography , it can be recognized by the widening of the spots in the opposite direction to the solvent front.

The reverse case of tailing is called fronting .
