Lech (son of Krak)

Lech

Lech was said to be a son of Krak in prehistoric Polish times .

Jan Długosz described him in his chronicle in the 15th century. It followed on from the legend of Krak, the legendary founder of Krakow, which appeared in the 12th century.

Lech was therefore a son of Krak. After the death of his father, he killed his brother, who was also named Krak, and ruled alone from then on. After his death, his sister Wanda ruled because he had remained childless.

Jan Długosz probably created this figure after the name of the legendary Lech , the forefather of the Poles, whose story appeared in the 13th century.
