Lee coast

from Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia

Leeküste is used as a term from shipping, especially when it comes to sailing . The lee coast is on the windward side of a ship. Since the wind comes from the other side, it drives the ship towards the coast . The seaman calls this danger “on the wall ”. The ship must constantly turn upwind to prevent the ship from running aground just offshore.
