In the traffic theory of communications technology , the performance is the maximum market value that a system can process.

If the offer exceeds the performance, the excess is rejected as residual traffic in a loss system . Blocking occurs in a waiting system and the offer can be processed after a medium waiting period.

The unit of power is the Erlang (Erl).
