Market value (communications engineering)
In communications technology, the traffic value y is the traffic volume Y, which relates to an observation period t:
The market value is measured in Erlang . So if a line is observed for an hour and a total of 30 minutes of that is busy, it has a traffic value of 0.5 Erlang.
The market value forms a basis for the dimensioning of communications systems.
Some market values as an example:
- Connection of a telephone system : 0.2 Erl
- private subscriber line: 0.12 Erl
- Connection line in a local network : 0.8 Erl.
