Lelita Rosa (real name Maria Rosa Maccari ; born July 19, 1908 in São Paulo , † unknown) was a Brazilian film actress .

Life

Lelita Rosa made a name for herself as a sensual seductress in Brazilian cinema within a decade in the late 1920s . She made her film debut in 1925 in Flor do Sertão . In 1928 she played for the first time under the direction of Humberto Mauro - in the commercially successful Brasa Dormida with the stars Luís Soroa and Nita Ney . Then she went to Rio de Janeiro to the newly founded film company Cinédia of the producer and director Adhemar Gonzaga and appeared in his Barro Humano in a leading role alongside Gracia Morena , Eva Schnoor and Eva Nil . In Mauro's last silent film Lábios sem beijos (1930), Paulo Morano was her film partner . The film is a romantic comedy about the relationship between a rich young woman and a poor "Don Juan". The magazine "Jornal do Brasil" voted him the best Brazilian film of 1930. Lelita Rosa had her last film appearance in Gonzaga's musical comedy Alô, Alô, Carnaval with Jaime Costa and Oscarito , then she retired from the film business.

She presumably died in her hometown of São Paulo in the 1980s.
