Steering column

The fixed part of a mechanical steering system between the dashboard and the steering wheel is called the steering column . It usually contains the levers of the steering column switch , the ignition lock , the steering wheel lock and, in modern vehicles, an electronic control unit ( steering column module ). It is usually attached to the chassis using shear bolts .
