Leonard Cherries
Leonard Kirschen (born September 8, 1908 in Brăila , Romania, † April 30, 1983 in London ) was a journalist of Romanian origin.
Life
From the age of 11 he lived in England. He studied engineering and economics in Berlin and law in Bucharest.
From 1938 he worked for various British newspapers. In 1941 he found refuge in Turkey, from where he regularly contributed to the Daily Telegraph, Sunday Times and Arab News Agency. From November 1944 he was a correspondent for the Associated Press of America. In 1950 he was arrested and sentenced to 25 years in prison. The British Foreign Office was extradited to London in 1960, where he again worked for the AP.
