Zones
The core zone of the national park comprises around 300 km² of land. Another 1,200 km² along the Chinese and North Korean borders are not accessible without a permit and are looked after by border guards. About 720 km² of the national park are mainly used for ecotourism. These areas are mainly around the core zone. Another 380 km² are mainly farmland and are used economically.
