The Leppehytta (also Leppbua ) is a hut in Gausdal Vestfjell in the Norwegian province of Innlandet . It is located at 1050  m between the fish-rich lakes Øvre Leppvatn and Nedre Leppvatn in open terrain just below the tree line . It has two bedrooms, a kitchen and an anteroom and has a total size of about 25 m².

Location and accessibility

The hut is located on a former pasture on a hill between two lakes. The surrounding landscape is characterized by moors and birch forests. The hut can be reached by car from the Fv255 road via a private toll road with a gravel surface. In summer the last 6 km are covered on foot, in winter the last 10 km on skis.

Structural condition and equipment

The hut was restored in 2000 and has two double bunk beds and one single bed. All beds have mattresses and pillows. Bring bed linen and a blanket or sleeping bag. The hut has neither electricity nor running water. Wood is used for heating; There is a three-burner gas stove for cooking. The main kitchen utensils are also provided. All groceries and everyday items such as candles, lamp oil, toilet paper etc. must be brought along. Pets are allowed.

Tourist activities in the area

The lakes and rivers in the area are rich in fish and are good for fishing. In summer as in winter there are numerous worthwhile destinations for day trips on foot, on skis or by dog ​​sledding. From the middle of September it is possible to hunt small game such as hares or ptarmigan.

Ownership

The cabin is owned by Gausdal Fjellstyre and can be rented for a fee. There is no minimum rental period. From the middle of September the hut, like all huts in the Norwegian Fjellstyre, is rented out to hunters for around three weeks.
