Les Legions Noires

from Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia

Les Légions Noires or The Black Legions was an association of French black metal musicians in the 1990s, similar to the Norwegian Inner Circle . The Légions Noires included the black metal and dark ambient bands Mütiilation , Belketre, Torgeist, Moëvöt, Brenoritvrezorkre and Vlad Tepes. In 1996 Meyna'ch is said to have been expelled from the Légions Noires by Mütiilation because of drug problems , which disbanded around this time, including the bands represented.

The association is known for its strong underground mentality and raw demo recordings that were only distributed among its members. Thorns of Full Moon Productions even received death threats for having included the address of the band Vlad Tepes in his Petrified magazine when discussing their demo War Funeral March . Shatraug from Horna and Malefic from Xasthur are inspired by the Légions Noires . The circle, however, is despised by members of the French NSBM scene; nevertheless, she counts Black Christ from Blessed in Sin and Funeral among the best French bands of the early and mid-1990s.
