Les Reines Prochaines ( French , literally in German : The next queens ) is a Swiss women's band. They set their texts to music based on pop, tango, folk music and classical music.

Career

Les Reines Prochaines was founded in 1987 by Teresa Alonso, Regina Florida Schmid and Muda Mathis . A year later, Fränzi Madörin and Pipilotti Rist joined and later the other band members Gabi Streiff, Sus Zwick , Sibylle Hauert, Michèle Fuchs and Barbara Naegelin .

The band currently consists of Muda Mathis, Sus Zwick and Fränzi Madörin.

style

Besides the vocals, a synthesizer was the only instrument the women used to perform their program at the beginning. Today the musicians, who are often also visual artists, also play bass, drums, accordion, guitar, clarinet, trumpet and saxophone. Nonetheless, their musical arrangements are minimalist and serve as the basis for their multimedia presentations. Her songs are poetic, political and provocative. Each musician stages her own part in the concert program, the instruments are exchanged, there is recitation, singing and dancing.
