Fränzi Madörin (born October 4, 1963 in Basel ) is a Swiss musician and works as an artist with performance , installation , audio and video . Her musical performances consist of songs and improvised narratives that emerge from the situation and in dialogue with the audience. Equipment, costumes and body prostheses are important elements of her solo performances, in the joint performances with the women's music performance group Les Reines Prochaines and in the performative videos with Muda Mathis , Sus Zwick .

Life

Fränzi Madörin grew up in Muttenz . Even before her training as a dressmaker from 1985 to 1988, she designed costumes and equipment for the theater and gained experience with the medium of radio. Since 1988 she has been part of the women's music performance group Les Reines Prochaines (1987) and the studio and production group VIA Basel (AudioVideoKunst, 1988). She is active in Basel and internationally with audiovisual productions, bands , performances and installations. She lives and works in Basel

Madörin works primarily as a live performer and presenter, in exhibition format with audio installations, audio walks and video presentations.

In 1987 Muda Mathis , Teresa Alonso and Regina Florida Schmid founded the performance music group Les Reines des Couteaux , from 1988 Les Reines Prochaines , with a changing line-up - Fränzi Madörin, Pipilotti Rist , Gabi Streiff, Sus Zwick , Sibylle Hauert, Michèle Fuchs and Barbara Naegelin - occurs. As a band from Basel, they formed during the youth and women's movement of the 1980s with the intention of questioning traditional art and gender boundaries, and they still play Dada , Fluxus and Punk in front of an international audience today .
