Cascade capacitor Basel

The Kaskadenkondensator (Kasko for short) is a self-managed cultural institution for contemporary art in Basel . It is intended to serve as a place for cultural mediation and for experimental, research and process-based art with a focus on performance and other comparable forms of expression.
history
The Kaskadenkondensator was founded in 1994 as an association, sees itself as content and financially independent, with its seat within the Werkraum Warteck pp . The founding members were the artists Anna Amadio, Renée Levi , Renate Buser , the singer Marianne Schuppe , the pianist Christoph Schiller, the art historian Elisabeth Gerber and the environmental engineer Marin Lüchinger . The idea for this arose when the building complex of the former Warteck beer brewery was converted into the Warteck PP ( PP stands for permanent provisorium ).
team
Each art space is organized by a team. The youngest crew has existed since 2008, the program is organized and coordinated by Chris Regn , the artists Muda Mathis , Sus Zwick and Sara Grütter form the board. Since 2012, the cascade capacitor has shared the space with the independent artist and curator collective Dr. Kuckucks Labrador , who realize their own projects in hull and other places in Basel.
Goal setting
As a complementary art location , the cascade capacitor is intended to play an independent role in the context of Basel's art institutions and serve as a flexible structure in which artists and theorists work together at the interface between art and mediation and stimulate dialogue between artists and those interested in art. A central concern is to provide young artists and art educators with opportunities for experimentation and freedom, and thereby promote them. The Kaskadenkondensator also seeks and maintains networking and cooperation with municipal and regional initiatives and institutions, with other independent art spaces at home and abroad.
