Works and works
Like many artists, Vera Bourgeois took up the terrorist attacks on September 11, 2001 and tried to process these events through her artistic work. She stretched large sheets over the streets of the city ( New York City ), full of personal messages, wishes and dreams of the people of the world.
With her work "My Own House" (Hanover 2002) Vera Bourgeois carried out a detailed construction drawing of an original dwelling. Here the artist focused on the basic needs of every human being, away from the materialistic ideology of our society.
In one of her most famous photo projects, she deals with the subject of sleep and rest ("Billie's sleep", 2005). Here she stages a sleeping child at night.
Furthermore, she made an artistic appearance through her involvement in Africa. In two projects ("Africa", 2002–2005 and "African Portraits", 2007) she documents the living conditions of the local population.
