Les petits frères des Pauvres

Les petits frères des Pauvres is a non-profit organization originally founded in France in 1946 by Armand Marquiset . Its aim is to lead old, lonely people out of their isolation and to help them enjoy life more. In 1979 an international umbrella organization was founded, the Fédération Internationale des petits frères des Pauvres (International Federation of Little Brothers of the Poor) . It is recognized as a non-governmental organization with consultative status (category II) by the Economic and Social Council of the United Nations and has national member associations in France, Poland, Switzerland, Spain, Ireland, Canada, Germany, Mexico and the USA.

The German subsidiary, les petits frères des Pauvres - Friends of Old People e. V. , is a non-profit association that was founded in Berlin in 1991.

Taken together, the petits frères des Pauvres care for over 30,000 old people worldwide by more than 10,000 volunteers and around 600 employees.

tasks

Friendly relationships with the voluntary staff of the association play a central role. Excursions and trips are also organized, and community activities such as Christmas parties, lunches and game afternoons are organized.

At the end of the 1990s, with the conception and establishment of the first dementia community (Alzheimerwohngemeinschaft) in Germany, the association gained greater awareness and importance among the specialist public.
