The LesbenRing eV is a nationwide association for lesbians , lesbian groups and organizations with headquarters in Heidelberg and an office in Berlin .

Emergence

The association was founded on March 8, 1982. In 1982, the year it was founded, many lesbians felt the need for nationwide networking and joint representation of lesbian- feminist interests in order to give political demands more weight. Today the LesbenRing e. V. the nationwide umbrella organization for lesbian women, lesbian groups and organizations. The LesbenRing has a seat and vote in the German Women's Council, is represented on the board of trustees of the Federal Magnus Hirschfeld Foundation and is a co-wife of the ILGA (International Lesbian and Gay Association).

Goal setting

As before, the LesbenRing stands for making lesbian lifestyles public and visible in society. The LesbenRing promotes networking between lesbian women and lesbian organizations. In addition, the Lesbian Ring concludes alliances with other women's associations. In the long term, the aim is to establish lesbian lifestyles as an equal reality alongside others. The LesbenRing counteracts discrimination against lesbian women and promotes lifestyles that are determined by mutual respect, non-violence and democracy. The LesbenRing represents the interests of lesbians in politics and society. The LesbenRing sees lesbian politics and culture as an essential part of one's own life and supports the annual lesbian spring meeting (LFT).
