The Rathenow lighthouse is a former pier fire in Warnemünde . The tower has been in the Rathenow optics park since 2009 .
history
The hexagonal steel tower was built in 1990 on the central pier of Warnemünde. Due to a redesign of the harbor entrance, the beacon was no longer needed from 1997, dismantled and stored by the Stralsund Waterways and Shipping Office . Thanks to an initiative of the association for the promotion, care and preservation of the optical traditions in Rathenow , the tower came to the city in 2008, from whose optical factories more than one hundred beacons around the world have been equipped with lens systems.
The Fresnel lens of the Rathenow lighthouse has a diameter of 300 millimeters and comes from the company Optische Anstalt Rathenow Gebrüder Picht & Co., the first German manufacturer of Fresnel lenses for lighthouses, lightships and navigation lights .
The originally yellow tower was painted in the colors of Brandenburg and erected on June 2, 2009 in the Rathenower Havel . Out of consideration for the residents, the beacon is only switched on on certain occasions, for the first time during the Long Night of Optics on June 6, 2009.
