Sibylle Gädeke

Sibylle Gädeke (born 1961 in Freiburg im Breisgau ) is a German painter , stage and costume designer who works regularly with the director Jens-Daniel Herzog .

life and work

Gädeke studied painting, as well as stage and costume design at the Academy of Fine Arts in Stuttgart . From 1995 to 2001 she was head of equipment at the Hans Otto Theater in Potsdam . Before and after that she worked for numerous well-known theaters, including the Staatstheater Stuttgart , the Bavarian State Theater and the Münchner Kammerspiele . At the Nationaltheater Mannheim she has done three productions each by the directors Till Weinheimer ( The Measure of Things , Bérénice de Molière and Beautiful ) and Jens-Daniel Herzog ( Innocence , Othello and Maria Magdalena ). At the Theater Dortmund she worked with the director Antje Siebers , at the Theater Ingolstadt with Dominik von Gunten , at the National Theater Weimar with Roland Bertschi and at the Schauspielhaus Zürich for three children's productions with Annette Raffalt . Again with director Till Weinheimer, she appeared at JES Stuttgart (for Macbeth ) and at the Staatstheater Oldenburg (for Harold and Maude , as well as for Der Gott des Gemetzels ).

At the Zurich Opera in 2010 she designed the costumes for Les pêcheurs de perles , at the Dortmund Opera in 2011 for The Flying Dutchman and at the Schwetzingen Festival in 2012 for Rosamunde by Anton Schweitzer , based on a libretto by Christoph Martin Wieland . All three operas were directed by Jens Daniel Herzog. In the following year she staged Die Kuh Rosemarie at the children's and youth theater in Dortmund and took over the costume design for the German premiere of Anna Nicole , a music theater work about the life of the photo model Anna Nicole Smith by Mark-Anthony Turnage , based on a text by Richard Thomas . Herzog again staged it and Jac van Steen conducted it . In January and March 2015, the costumes for Herzog's productions of Rosenkavalier and Don Giovanni at the Dortmund Opera followed. In 2016 she was responsible for the costumes of La Bohème at the Theater Bonn .

In 2013 the artist made her debut at the Theater an der Wien . She designed the costumes for the world premiere of A Harlot's Progress , based on a text by Peter Ackroyd , set to music by Iain Bell , staged by Jens-Daniel Herzog and conducted by Mikko Franck . A new production by Hans Heiling by the Viennese artistic director Roland Geyer will follow there in September 2015 .

Sibylle Gädeke can also refer to numerous solo and group exhibitions of her painting. She lives in Berlin.
