Mikko Franck (born April 1, 1979 in Helsinki ) is a Finnish conductor .

Franck began violin lessons at the age of five and studied conducting at the Sibelius Academy, as well as conducting in the United States , Sweden, and Israel .

In August 2006 Franck began as chief conductor of the Finnish National Opera and took up the post on February 14, 2007.

In December 2011, Mikko Franck made his first appearance at the Metropolitan Opera .

Franck also took over the musical direction of the world premiere of Iain Bell's opera A Harlot's Progress (libretto: Peter Ackroyd based on the cycle A Harlot's Progress by William Hogarth ), which was performed on October 13, 2013 with soprano Diana Damrau in the title role and in the production of Jens-Daniel Herzog was premiered in the Theater an der Wien .

He made his debut at the Vienna State Opera in 2014, where he conducted La Bohème , Lohengrin , Josephs Legende , Verklungene Feste , Tosca , Salome and Elektra .

Since September 2015, Mikko Franck has been Director Musical of the Orchester Philharmonique de Radio France .
