Interior decoration of the shop

Levanders Lanthandel is a museum-operated shop in Alseda in the Swedish municipality of Vetlanda . A typical rural Swedish retail store from the 19th and 20th centuries is shown.

The building is located twelve kilometers east of Vetlanda immediately south of road 47.

The store opened in 1864. Erik Levander , whose name is still big on the house, took over the shop in 1920 and ran it for 50 years until July 4, 1970. Today the shop continues as a mixture of gift shop, small café and museum. The original shop fittings with counters, shelves, cash registers and the like have been preserved and are in use. The shop gives an insight into the Swedish retail world of the 1890s. The café also has seats in the garden of the house.

Levanders Lanthandel is closed from January to April.
