Lexeme recurrence

from Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia

Lexeme recurrence (repetition of lexemes ) is an essential criterion in text linguistics for the unity of a text . In many texts u. a. by repeating one and the same lexeme (word) the connection between the sentences ( coherence ) becomes clear. Since repetition after very short intervals is not considered a good style, lexeme variation , i.e. the replacement of one lexeme with another that relates to the same subject (same reference ) , is used as a further means alongside lexeme recurrence . Both processes are involved in the construction of isotopes . Brinker (2001: 27ff.) Deals with these cases under the heading "explicit resumption".
