The Lezam is a training bow from India.
description
The lezam was used by Indian archers as a training tool to improve their bow- bowing skills. The arch body is made of metal or whale bones , the individual pieces are joined together with rivets . A strong iron chain, to which small pieces of metal are attached, serves as the bowstring . In the middle of the chain there is a round piece of metal that serves as a handle. The small pieces of metal on the chain create a ringing sound during training. This was used to indicate to a supervisor when a trainee interrupted the training, because then the ringing noise would stop. They also increased the weight of the bow.
