Book service in the Orthodox Church

The libriferar or librifer ( lat. Liber 'book' and ferre 'carry', in German referred to as "book service") is an altar server in the Catholic liturgy who is responsible for keeping the necessary books ready during the celebration of the divine service . The libriferar has to make sure that the right books are available at the right time for the celebrant of the service. He holds the book in front of the celebrant so that he can pray in an oranten position - for example, with the daily prayer and closing prayer of Holy Mass , with ordinations or with the dispensing of sacraments and sacramentals . The libriferar ensures that the respective book is opened or marked in the right place. During processions , the libriferar also carries and re-presents the liturgical books.
