Favorite book of the independents

from Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia

The favorite book of Independents (originally Favorite Book of the Year of the independent book trade ) is a German literary award , which since 2015 as part of the week of independent bookstores (WUB) is awarded. The WUB is a joint event of numerous independent German bookstores, which has been held annually in November since 2014 and in which over 700 bookstores are taking part in 2019. The WUB goes back to an initiative by David Mesche, co-owner of the Berlin BUCHBOX! Bookstores. The participating bookstores hold various campaigns during the week in question, such as readings by authors, with the aim of improving customer loyalty and promoting media awareness of the importance of independent bookstores in cultural life.

The favorite book is selected from a previously published shortlist by the participating bookstores.
