Mariana Leky

Mariana Leky (born February 12, 1973 in Cologne ) is a German author . Her novel “What you can see from here” became a Spiegel bestseller in 2017/18.

Life

In addition to an apprenticeship in bookselling, Leky studied German and empirical cultural studies in Tübingen from 1993 . From 1994 to 1996 she attended the university “Studio Literature and Theater”. From 1999 she studied creative writing and cultural journalism at the University of Hildesheim . While still a student, she won prizes for short stories at the Allegra competition and the Lower Saxony literary competition for young literature. Her debut volume love pearls with stories was published in 2001. In 2004 her first novel Erste Hilfe was published . Her novel What can be seen from here , published in 2017, was on the Spiegel bestseller list for 65 weeks and was named the “Favorite Book of Independent Booksellers”.

Mariana Leky lives in Berlin .
