Laimer band
Laimer-Band (synonym: Laimersche Membran) is a common name for the ligamentum phrenicooesophageale , named after the Austrian anatomist Eduard Laimer . It connects the esophagus with the diaphragm in a movable manner , bridging the esophageal slit (hiatus oesophageus). The ligament is composed of fibers from the phrenicopleural fascia and the inferior diaphragmatic fascia .
It plays an important role in the development of the diaphragmatic hernia .
