Limavady Castle

Limavady Castle ( Irish Caisleán Léim an Mhadaidh , also O'Cahan's Castle ) is a ruined castle on the west bank of the Roe south of the city of Limavady in County Londonderry, Northern Ireland . It was once a fortress of the Uí Chatháin ( O'Cahans ).

In 1542 the McQuillans, together with James Butler, 9th Earl of Ormond , Lord High Treasurer of Ireland, and a large English force, besieged the castle, captured it and massacred the entire garrison.
