Limbeckhaus in Cheb

The Limbeckhaus in Cheb (German Eger ), a Czech town in Okres Cheb (Eger district), is a residential and commercial building with the address Náměstí Krále Jiřího z Poděbrad 476/31. It has been a protected cultural monument since 1988.

From 1747 the house was owned by the Limbeck family, who regularly held the office of mayor or city council. The corner house with five to seven window axes has stucco ornaments inside. The facade was baroque in 1780 and shows three-dimensional ornamental stucco. The high pitched roof has three rows of dormer windows , the front row has been enlarged to form hatchings with segmented arched gables. The central axis of the house is accentuated by window-framing volute garlands and a stuccoed eye of God.
