The Lime Rock Railroad (LR) is a former railway company in Maine ( United States ). It was founded on February 29, 1864 and built standard-gauge freight lines around Rockland to serve the numerous lime kilns and quarries in the area. From 1873 the railway company was owned by the Rockland Rockport Lime Company , which was the largest customer of transport services in the area. The first 14-kilometer section was opened in 1889. A further six kilometers of connecting railways were built by 1897. A total of eleven bridges were built for the route. Although the railway was licensed as a public railway, there was no passenger traffic.

In 1910, the railway had 4 locomotives as well as 436 freight and 8 company cars. The lines were gradually closed, in 1925 only about 10 kilometers were still in operation. The last section was closed on May 23, 1942.
