Limulunga

from Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia

Limulunga is the rainy season palace of the Litunga , king of the Lozi in Barotseland in Western Province in Zambia .

A palace still reminds of the kingdom of the Barotse . Today it is a museum . It is located 18 kilometers north of Mongu . At the end of the rainy season, when the level of the Zambezi falls, the litunga moves to its palace in Lealui , which is lower.

Today Limulanga is a small town at 1,024 meters above sea level with 7,571 inhabitants (2006 estimate) on a range of hills east of the Zambezi and a relatively new school - thanks to church aid projects. There is an unpaved, 1,000-meter-long runway near the village.
