history

The first Lindenbad was officially opened on February 16, 1973 and initially operated by the city of Halle (Westphalia) . In 1987, the energy supplier Technische Werke Osning GmbH (TWO) , a wholly owned subsidiary of the city, took over the operation. In 1988 the bathroom was expanded and modernized between 2004 and 2008 in several construction phases for 2.44 million euros. On April 6, 2011, the city council of Halle (Westphalia) unanimously decided to demolish the linden bath and build a new one at the same location. The contract for this was awarded to the architects Geising + Böker from Hamburg. Public bathing ended on July 1, 2012. Then the demolition and new construction work for the new linden bath, which was officially opened on March 14, 2014, began.

Furnishing

The new Lindenbad has a 4-lane 25-meter sports pool with a three-meter platform and a one-meter board, a toddler pool and a teaching pool with a lifting floor . Outside there is a lawn with a beach volleyball field and a children's playground. The bathroom is completely barrier-free. The access to the pool is guaranteed by a bus loop with a bus stop at the main entrance.

Origin of name

The name Lindenbad is derived from the name "Lindenstadt" for the city of Halle, which is also known by this name due to the numerous linden trees in the city.
