Works

In her book You are now flying for my son from the fifth floor! she describes in stories the fate of mostly young people who have to suffer from the brutality of the circumstances and the arbitrariness of autocratic officials. Some stories take place in the country, others in the emerging economic metropolises in southern China. The Chinese delegation is the sometimes funny, sometimes bitter report on the clash of two cultures: A group of Chinese officials and business leaders drives through half of Europe in 19 days. This leads to a violent conflict between the tyrannical head of the delegation and the young tour guide who has been living in the West for a long time. The novel Die Sterne von Shenzhen , set in 1997, was published at the end of 2008 and describes, using the example of the young, ambitious entrepreneur Dai, how the honest striving for prosperity for all and democratic ways of life in a constitutional state is damaged and undermined by crime, corruption and arbitrary bureaucratic arbitrariness become. Although Dai initially fails and his business is bankrupt (also because of his own hubris), this work has rightly been called "a hopeful novel". Her novel How a Chinese Woman Becomes Pregnant was published in October 2009 . The novel The Girl, the Cook and the Dragon , which was published in August 2013, is set in a Chinese restaurant in Berlin : A young woman is said to be forced into a relationship with a mafia boss in order to save her family.
