The Linz International School Auhof (LISA) was founded in 1992 as a bilingual branch of the Europagymnasium Auhof .
English is the language of instruction in all subjects from the first grade (fifth grade ). Students learn English through "immersion" in an English-speaking environment.
Legal status
In contrast to other international schools, the Linz International School Auhof is run publicly and not privately. The LISA Support Association was founded to finance services that go beyond the budget provided by the school operator . This administers parental contributions and sponsorship money, with which fees for assistants, English teaching materials and various projects are financed.
Educational offer
LISA students are taught according to the Austrian curriculum, with the exception of the IB subjects. This is where the IB curriculum of the respective subject comes into play, and the lessons are run as a cross-class course system. All other subjects will continue to be attended as a class group. This creates the opportunity to take both the Matura and the International Baccalaureate diploma.
The LISA teaching staff consists of Austrian teachers and native speakers who have completed their training at Austrian and international universities. The foreign language assistants work together with Austrian teachers in a team in order to compensate for the initially different English level of the students through targeted language support.
In all lower grades, drama (acting) is a mandatory exercise that is used for foreign language and rhetorical training. Theatrical performances are considered important social events of a school year.
School projects are carried out across subjects and classes. There are project weeks with English-speaking experts or in English-speaking countries as well as workshops with artists in the rooms of the school.
The students themselves manage their own student library. The construction of an English specialist library for students and teachers is well advanced.
