Lisa Marei Schmidt

Lisa Marei Schmidt (born March 6, 1978 in Frechen near Cologne ) is a German art historian, curator and museum director.

Life

After completing her master's degree in art history and German at the University of Marburg , the University of Amsterdam and the Humboldt University in Berlin , she did a Master of Arts at the Royal College of Art in London. From 2009 to 2011 she was a research trainee at the Kunstsammlung Nordrhein-Westfalen , and from 2012 to 2017 she was a curator at the Hamburger Bahnhof - Museum für Gegenwart in Berlin. She has been the director of the Brücke Museum in Berlin-Dahlem since October 2017 .

Exhibitions

She was in charge of the Marzona collection at Hamburger Bahnhof and curated the exhibition series “A – Z. The Marzona Collection ”(2014–2016) and, together with Udo Kittelmann, “ Fluids. A Happening by Allan Kaprow 1967/2015 ". As a curator she was also responsible for the exhibition “Carl Andre: Sculpture as Place” organized by the Dia Art Foundation . Schmidt curated "Ed Atkins Old Food" (2017) for the Martin-Gropius-Bau .
