Leighton Abel

Leighton W. Abel (born February 22, 1900 in Monona , Iowa , † April 23, 1975 in Guttenberg , Iowa) was an American entrepreneur and member of the House of Representatives from Iowa .

Career

Abel graduated from high school in 1918 and then worked in the insurance industry. He also founded the Abel Shoe Company in Guttenberg . Abel married in the historic Little Brown Church in Iowa. As a Republican, he was a member of the Iowa House of Representatives from 1951 to 1955. After joining the parliament, Abel was active as a lobbyist.
