The Lisbon Council for Economic Competitiveness and Social Renewal is a Brussels- based think tank founded in 2003.

The organization is committed to the Lisbon Strategy of the European Union and deals with topics such as education, work, sustainable growth and innovation. As part of the so-called Founding Father Lecture Series , political and academic personalities give speeches on specific topics, for example the future of the European social model. The Lisbon Council also publishes publications on education, including the dossier The economics of knowledge: Why education is key to Europe's success , published in March 2006 . The author of this study is Andreas Schleicher , Director of the PISA program at the Organization for Economic Cooperation and Development (OECD). Other key topics of the organization are climate change and environmental protection . With this in mind, in October 2006 the Lisbon Council organized an event in honor of Al Gore on the occasion of the Brussels premiere of his award-winning film An Inconvenient Truth .
