Lismullin Henge
A formation called Lismullin Henge or Lismullin Circle and a basement are located near Lismullin ( Irish Lios Muilinn - German "Mühlenfort" ) not far from Tara in County Meath, northwest of Dublin in Ireland . They were made in the early Iron Age , between 520 and 370 BC. Built in BC. The enclosure, which is not a real henge , was found during the construction of the M3 motorway in 2007 , the basement a little later.
The enclosure consists of two concentric round walls with posts that enclose an area of 0.5 ha. The outer enclosure is about 80 meters in diameter, the inner 16 m. A stone ax, a ceramic fragment and an ornate ring-headed pin were found. A dog's skeleton was recovered nearby.
The basement has a number of stone blocks with rock carvings that are otherwise associated with Neolithic art ( Newgrange ). Presumably they come from a previous passage tomb .
