Georg Arp was born in Steinau on January 25, 1890 . He was an innkeeper in Ihlienworth. On February 10, 1943, he was arrested for making critical statements about the Wehrmacht , charged with subverting the military and sentenced to 15 months in prison. In captivity he was imprisoned in Cuxhaven from December 31, 1943 to May 12, 1944. After his release he was arrested again on November 29, 1944 after the grid action and transferred to the Celle prison on December 20, 1944 and then to the Berlin-Moabit prison. Georg Arp officially died on January 26, 1945 of alleged pneumonia and a stomach epidemic. In fact, according to the testimony of his cellmate, it turned out that he was not ill and that he was possibly hanged with five other inmates. His grave is located in Berlin-Moabit and is cared for by the Berlin Senate as a tomb of a victim of fascism. The sentence was overturned on July 28, 1952 and declared invalid. No reparation was made.
