Until 1993
Until 1993, the Vanuatu football champions were determined in a knockout round with representatives from the regional football leagues. The respective winners are not known apart from 1975, 1983/84, 1986 and 1989.

Since 1994
Since the introduction of national soccer leagues, the Vanuatu soccer champion has been determined in the TVL Premier League . From 1994 to 2007 it was held in calendar year mode, from 2008/09 to 2014/15 in autumn-spring mode, from 2016 to 2017 in calendar year mode and since 2017/18 again in calendar year mode.

Participant in the Oceania Cup
In the OFC Champions League, which was held for the first time in 1987 (1987: Pacific Champions Cup, 1999-2006: OFC Club Championship), a Vanuatu national team took part. In the three other events in 1999, 2001 and 2005 as well as 2007/08, the Vanuatu football champions Tafea FC qualified directly. For the sweeps in 2006, 2007, 2008/09 and 2009/10, the participants were VFF Cup Bred determined for the sweeps since 2010/11 is of or be participants in the - discharged following the TVL Premier League - TVL National Super League determined.
