Julius Bergenroth

Julius Bergenroth (born June 10, 1817 in Marggrabowa , East Prussia , † February 24, 1896 in Berlin ) was a German classical philologist , high school teacher and member of the state parliament.

Life

Julius Bergenroth studied Classical Philology at the Albertus University in Königsberg and became a member of Corps Masovia in the summer semester of 1838 . He was promoted to Dr. phil. doctorate and passed the exam pro facultate docendi . He completed his probationary year at the Kneiphöfischen Gymnasium and from November 1846 at the Friedrichsgymnasium Gumbinnen . In Gumbinnen he was also the main teacher at the private daughters' school. In November 1847 he was permanently employed at the Friedrichsgymnasium. At Easter 1850 he was transferred to the Thorner Gymnasium , where he became a senior teacher in 1866 . Michaelis he retired in 1879.

In Thorn , Bergenroth became a city ​​councilor and city ​​councilor . As a member of the German Progressive Party , he represented the constituency Marienwerder 5 (Thorn – Kulm) in the Prussian House of Representatives from 1873 to 1885 . The city of Thorn made him an honorary citizen .
