List of Russian secret services
The list of Russian secret services includes all institutions of intelligence work in Russia.
FSB
- German: Federal Service for Security
- Protection of the Constitution, subordinate to the Interior Ministry. Counter-espionage (military and civil), fight against terrorism and organized crime. Uses all kinds of information gathering, observation of foreign nationals as well, surveillance of the internet, in certain cases also international espionage. Before 1995 it was called FSK. Known in connection with the plutonium affair .

FAPSI
- German: Federal Agency for Government Telecommunications and Information
- Espionage and defense in the telecommunications and electronic sector, secures telecommunications from the army and government, security against eavesdropping and encryption techniques, but also clarifies, receives foreign messages and decrypts, allegedly good technical equipment, as powerful as corresponding services of the USA.
- Disbanded in 2003 and taken over by the FSB like FPS. The immediate successor is the SSSN .

FPS
- German: Federal Service for Border Guard
- responsible for securing and guarding the Russian external borders and border regions, including international espionage.
- Acquired by the FSB in 2002

FSO
- German: Federal Guard Service
- Responsible for the security of the government and the president, personal and property protection, according to the president's instructions, intelligence activities for defense or espionage.
- about 40,000 employees.
GRU
- German: Headquarters for Enlightenment
- responsible for military espionage abroad, subordinate to the Russian Defense Ministry, according to its own statements "most secret" service in Russia, collects and analyzes information in the field of military policy, strategy, geography, armaments technology and products that can be used by the military.

SWR
- German: Service for external reconnaissance
- Responsible for civil international espionage, collects and analyzes information relevant to the intelligence service in business, science, technology and politics ( industrial espionage ), also with the help of recruited agents abroad and espionage from foreign intelligence services.
