Litany for the deceased

from Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia

The litany for the deceased is a litany of the Catholic Church .

It is prayed by Catholics in the days between death and burial. The congregation gathers in the church or in the cemetery in the house of the dead . The litany is also prayed for the deceased during the wake or after the rosary . Like all litanies of the Roman Catholic Church, it is a communal plea and supplication in alternating song between the prayer leader or cantor and the community.
